Tommee Tippee bottles: which range should you choose?

Natural Start, Closer to Nature and Advanced Anti-Colic

Natural Start is the range Tommee Tippee recommends to start with. The teat has a shape the brand describes as breast-like, with a valve. Shops also still sell bottles under the older name Closer to Nature, such as this pack of three. According to Tommee Tippee, Natural Start and Closer to Nature teats fit each other’s bottles. There is also a gift set with glass Natural Start bottles.

Advanced Anti-Colic has its own system that keeps air out of the milk, with a tube inside the bottle. Tommee Tippee names this range for babies with colic symptoms. Advanced Anti-Colic teats do not fit Natural Start or Closer to Nature bottles, and vice versa. Whether a bottle makes a difference for your baby, LeBaby cannot say.

Teats and flow rate

Teats differ in how fast the milk flows through them. The names show, for example, extra slow flow (0m+), slow flow (0m+) and medium flow (3m+). The age is the brand’s guideline. Natural Start also has triangular Deep Latch teats, as in this set of two bottles. Always buy spare teats in the same range as your bottles.

Sizes and starter sets

Bottles come in 150 ml, 260 ml and 340 ml. For a newborn, many parents start with a starter set of a few small and larger bottles, such as the Natural Start starter set or the Advanced Anti-Colic starter set. Larger bottles with a faster teat you buy later.

Steriliser and bottle warmer
